MY STORY
Â
For much of my childhood, I learned how to exist without truly having a voice. I became skilled at reading the room, understanding what others expected of me, and becoming the version of myself that made everyone else comfortable. I learned to conform before I ever learned to ask myself, “Who am I?”
As I grew older, I built a life and a family that I deeply love. I became a wife, a mother, a professional, and so many other things to so many people. I was grateful for the life I had created, yet somewhere beneath all those roles was a quiet knowing: There was more to me.
There was a woman inside of me who was tired of asking for permission to exist fully.
Eventually, I stopped trying to fit into spaces that required me to become smaller. I stopped believing that being different was something I needed to explain. I stopped apologizing for speaking up, setting boundaries, changing my mind, pursuing my dreams, or choosing a path others might not understand.
I realized that I had spent enough of my life becoming who other people needed me to be.
It was time to become who I was created to be.
Today, I walk differently. I hold my head higher. I know that finding my voice does not mean that I love my family any less. Choosing myself does not require me to reject the people I love. It simply means that I finally understand that I belong in my own life, too.
I am no longer interested in conforming.
I am no longer willing to shrink.
And I will no longer apologize for being different.
The little girl who once struggled to find her voice has become a woman who understands her purpose—and she is finally giving herself permission to live it.
This is me.
This is my voice.
This is my purpose.
And I am unapologetically becoming who I was always meant to be.
